Summary

The Congressional Research Service’s plain-language summary of what the law does.

Idaho Wilderness Water Resources Protection Act - Directs the Secretary of Agriculture (USDA) to issue a special use authorization for the continued operation and reconstruction of a water storage, transport, or diversion facility located on National Forest System land in the Frank Church-River of No Return Wilderness and the Selway-Bitterroot Wilderness in Idaho if:

• the facility was in existence on the date on which it was designated as part of the National Wilderness Preservation System;

• the facility has been in continuous use to deliver water for beneficial use on the owner's non-federal land;

• the owner holds a valid water right under state law that predates the designation; and

• relocating the facility is not practicable or feasible.

Data notes

The House’s recorded vote on the final version of the law (roll call 244 in Voteview), matched to the vote the record cites and checked against its totals. Positions are each member’s DW-NOMINATE score for that Congress, as on the Ideology page; left to right is more liberal to more conservative. Paired and announced yea votes count as yea. Lists follow the compass, most liberal first. A name links to a profile only for members of the current Congress. A law passed by voice vote or unanimous consent has no member list, and neither does a vote Voteview has not yet recorded.
