Summary

The Congressional Research Service’s plain-language summary of what the law does.

Directs the Secretary of Agriculture (USDA), upon submission of a request by the town of Alta, Utah, within one year of enactment of this Act, to convey to the town all interest of the United States in and to parcels of National Forest System land in the Wasatch-Cache National Forest in Salt Lake County, Utah, that are located in and adjacent to parcels of land subject to special use permit SLC102708.

Requires the exact acreage of the land to be determined by a survey approved by the Secretary and limited to a maximum area of two acres.

Requires the town to pay the reasonable survey and other administrative costs associated with such conveyance and to use the land for public purposes only.

Data notes

The House’s recorded vote on the final version of the law (roll call 1322 in Voteview), matched to the vote the record cites and checked against its totals. Positions are each member’s DW-NOMINATE score for that Congress, as on the Ideology page; left to right is more liberal to more conservative. Paired and announced yea votes count as yea. Lists follow the compass, most liberal first. A name links to a profile only for members of the current Congress. A law passed by voice vote or unanimous consent has no member list, and neither does a vote Voteview has not yet recorded.
