Summary

The Congressional Research Service’s plain-language summary of what the law does.

Revises Federal provisions authorizing the Secretary of Agriculture to exchange certain lands that are excess to the needs of the Cascade Reservoir reclamation project for non-Federal land of approximately equal value to require that such value be determined by an appraisal carried out in accordance with: (1) the Uniform Relocation Assistance and Real Property Acquisition Policies Act of 1970; and (2) the publication entitled "Uniform Appraisal Standards for Federal Land Acquisitions," as amended by the Interagency Land Acquisition Conference in consultation with the Department of Justice. Requires land equalization payments, if necessary.
